  <p>The portion of the connect descriptor that defines the destination database <a href="n8ahelpservice_name.htm">service name</a> or <a href="n8ahelpOracle_System_Identifier_SID.htm">Oracle System Identifier (SID)</a>. In the following example, <span class="Code">SERVICE_NAME</span> specifies a database service called <span class="Code">sales.us.example.com</span>:</p>
